The Senior Class of Polk High invites all to a double feature on Friday November 14 at 8:00. Two melodramas The Perils of Priscilla and He Lured Her to the Primrose Path play with admission set at $1.00 for adults and 50 cents for students. Both shows are rated G.
Henry Hopp 79 of Hampton died Monday at Aurora Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk. He was born November 7 1890 and died leaving sisters Selma Hopp and Helen Collett and nephews Martin and Herman Collett. Burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Wall Funeral Home of Polk handling arrangements.
Godfred Olson born March 20 1891 in Malmo Sweden came to the United States in 1907. He lived mostly in Polk and Nance Counties with World War I service. Survived by sister Olga Gustafson Wichita Kansas and brother Walter Olson Cedar Rapids Nebraska. Services were held Saturday at 2 PM from Anderson Dodd Funeral Chapel Stromsburg Nebraska. Burial Stromsburg Cemetery.
Milfred Johnson suffers a broken arm and loss of two fingers after his sleeve entangles in a combine drive shaft during refueling. He receives treatment at Aurora hospital. Mrs Erwin Driever, helping unload corn, loses her right arm in a corn elevator accident two miles east and five miles north of Hampton. She is hospitalized in Aurora in satisfactory condition.
About 119 men and nurses were honored at United Methodist Church on Sunday morning. Rev. Deryl Reed delivered the sermon titled We Will Remember, with a special tribute for veterans in attendance.
Milfred Johnson remains a patient at Aurora Hospital. Dennis Mills is a patient at Veterans Hospital in Grand Island. Mrs Mary Nyberg is a patient at Annie Jeffrey Hospital in Osceola. Mrs Axel Anderson admitted for heart surgery at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Mr and Mrs Harry Anderson visited their daughter Dorothy in Lincoln on Sunday.

Ray Sealey of Denver Colorado and former local resident was surprised on his 85th birthday November 4 when his son Dick arranged a conference telephone call. Nine relatives in the area joined from their homes on a chain hookup to wish him well.

Mr and Mrs W M Blender of Polk marked their 60th anniversary on November 2 with a dinner and reception at Arborville Church Hall hosted by their children. They wed November 4 1909 in Loup City and have 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Attendees came from Sargent Arcadia Polk Bradshaw Stromsburg Benedict and Grand Island with Pvt Roger Werth unable to attend at Ft Polk La.
In a tense fourth quarter at Silver Creek the Tigercats pulled away from the Polk Cubs 20 14. Key moments included Jim Gonsier scoring on a six yard plunge and a nullified earlier TD by a clip penalty. Ken Bills sparked the Cubs with multiple runs and a successful two point try in the first half.
