Community Notes On Local Visits And Guests

Mr and Mrs Glen Babcock returned home Wednesday after a two week vacation in Hawaii. Mr and Mrs Melvin Bender and family were Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs Duane Eaton in Central City for dinner and lunch. Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs Oscar Anderson included Fern Drauker of Stromsburg Wanda Drauker of Omaha and many Andersons and Christensen families from Lincoln and Omaha at Mrs Martha Larson's Sunday dinner.

Dry Weather Brings Spring Work Load

Dry weather increases spring conservation work in Polk County with multiple farmers completing land leveling irrigation pit construction windbreak planting and livestock water projects. Polk Village approves 1967 tax expense estimate

The Village of Polk Nebraska sets proposed funds for 1967 1968 fiscal year general 7000 street 2200 library 500 fire 1000 park 1500 sinking fund 13000 social security 800 and 1500 800 respectively. The plan will be published in The Polk Progress for four weeks and a meeting to pass the annual appropriation bill is scheduled June 6 1967 at 8:00 PM in the Hotel Lobby.

Local Guests Visit Polk Residents Over Weekend

Mrs Edith Benson joined Mr and Mrs M O Johnson for Sunday dinner and lunch. Mrs Ruth Bills attended Mother's Day dinner with Mr and Mrs Lowell Bills and family. She also went to Baccalaureate services at Stromsburg Sunday. Mrs Doyle Klingsporn and boys visited Mrs Julia Flodman Thursday forenoon. Duane Bender family hosted Friday evening visitors.

Methodist Churches Schedule May Meetings and Classes

The Polk and Swede Plain churches announce May events. On Thursday May 18 the Official Board meets at Swede Plain at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday May 21 is Trinity Sunday with Holy Communion. Swede Plain welcomes Ritchie Dahlin Leilani Stohl and Janice Widga into full membership. Polk church recognizes first year students eligible for Advanced Class next fall. Wednesday May 24 the Swede Plain choir performs at 8:00 p.m.
