County Proceedings Set Public Hearing on Road Abandonment

The board adopts a resolution to hold a public hearing May 28 1968 at 10 00 A M in Osceola to consider abandoning a Polk York County line road between Section 35 Township 13 Range 1 West and Section 2 Township 12 Range 1 West excluding the west 30 rods. A tax certificate issue on delinquent real estate is ordered. The meeting adjourns to May 21 1968. Approved Dale Frizzell County Clerk Carl R H Johnson Chairman.

Local Visitors Share Weekend Hospitality in Polk

Polk residents hosted and visited over the weekend. Harold Anderson and family welcomed guests after Bac ecalaureate services. Additional gatherings included Ostberg and Flodman families, Reetz and Louthan visitors from Lincoln, Baack and Blase families for coffee, Coover and Coover families for birthday celebrations, and Emory Cramer hosting Susan. Walter Fisher joined a Bellevue trip with Vandegrift family members to visit Clinton Bahensky.

Junior high tours Lincoln and Grand Island trip details

Eighth graders guided by Allyn Chambers toured Lincoln visiting Elephant Hall Nebraska State Historical Society Antelope Park Zoo State Penitentiary and a Lincoln newspaper office with chaperones Mrs Harold Anderson Mrs Wayland Flodman and Mrs Arnold Neuhaus. Seventh graders accompanied by Mrs Nielsen toured Stuhr Museum Grand Island featuring Steve Wilson photography with stops at KRGI radio lunch in municipal park and the weather bureau.

Polk Community Study Trip Highlights Local Businesses

Second Grade students toured Polk downtown visiting IGA grocery store Citizens State Bank Hardware Store and Polk Fire Station learning meat processing bank safety vaults and early hardware history The trip included a tour of fire equipment a new rescue unit and a claim that firefighters could respond within seven minutes The class ended with a model town project and a school year wrap up noting final four days remaining before spring break
