Hindenburg Crash at Lakehurst Kills 36 on its Mooring
The Hindenburg zeppelin exploded and burned on approach to Lakehurst New Jersey ending its first trans Atlantic crossing. Three inquiries were planned led by Secretary Roper Rear Admiral Cook and German ambassador Hans Luther. Ground crew member E W Kirkpatrick described the rupture while hundreds watched and the ship’s crew attempted to land.

Survivors Listed From Hindenburg Disaster At Lakehurst
The Zeppelin company released a roster of Hindenburg survivors including Leonard Adelt of Berlin and Gertrude Adelt of Berlin among passengers and crew. The disaster occurred at 4 12 pm eastern daylight time with a fire after mooring lines were dropped, 64 of 97 aboard escaped, 26 bodies recovered.

Commanded Zeppelin Hindenburg's 1937 maiden voyage failure
The Hindenburg's 1937 maiden voyage ended in disaster near Lakehurst New Jersey when it exploded before landing. Capt Max Pruss commanded the airship on that Germany to United States flight, having previously served under Capt Ernst Lehmann and Dr. Hugo Eckener during earlier schedules. He spent a quarter century trained in Zeppelin work.
