The Senior Class Play The Blue Bag has been postponed from Friday night to Wednesday evening May 12. Tickets are on sale at the High School for the show to be held at Viking Hall.
Louis Ruzicka and Miss W Marid Kocan of Raymond Nebraska wed last Wednesday April 28 in Raymond. They plan to live on a farm southwest of Polk where the groom has farmed for several years.
Prominent Osceola lawyer Wilber M. Johnston died May 3 1937 at his home after a long career as Polk County and Osceola City Attorney. Born May 14 1876 in Greene Iowa he edited the Polk County Republican and Osceola Record before choosing law. Survived by widow Grace Pheasant. funeral May 5 at home with Rev. Monkman. interred Osceola cemetery beside his mother. He served in politics, Masonic Lodge member, and was known for honesty and devotion to the needy.
Polk business houses announce Wednesday night open hours starting May 12 and continuing each week during the busy season. Farmers may shop at night, and residents are urged to tell friends to visit Polk on Wednesday evenings.

The Woman's Club met Tuesday in the Baptist Church parlors with hostesses Mesdames Ferguson McDaniel Leo Wurtz and Orlie Miller. Mrs J L Sundberg was elected president for the coming year. The program featured violin solo by Mrs Stuermer Miss Helsing readings by the Boys' Glee Club Polk High School and a talk on International Relationship by Mrs Evins. A tea concluded the afternoon with many out of town guests.
August Mellgren born October 14 1858 in Laholm Sweden died April 29 1937 at 78 in Osceola Nebraska after pneumonia weakened his heart. He lived with relatives in Polk County and Osceola after migrating to America in 1880, never married, and was buried May 2 with pallbearers consisting of nephews and nieces.
Mystery mothers of the Guild Pals were honored guests at a Monday evening banquet in the Baptist church parlors. Pink and white decor featured carnations as centerpieces with white candlelite bouquets and mystery mother cards revealing each pal’s name. The program borrowed from The Shining Path To The Perfect Day, ending with a remembrance for charter member Clara Belle Brock.

William Ahlschwede of Seward suffered a double pelvic fracture when his car rolled over twice after colliding at an intersection on Highway 66 near Polk. Passport: Mervin Regter and Paul Peterson of Seward and John Su Joe of Staplehurst were hurt. two women in the other car were shaken but unharmed.
