LWML Presidents Meet in York at Emmanuel Church

The LWML all presidents meeting convened May 3 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. York Zone president Mrs. Hilmer Smith led the business session. Mrs. Kenneth Troester proposed by-law changes. Plans set for September fall zone rally at Faith Lutheran in York. Mrs. Erwin Schmidt chairs nominations for new officers to be chosen at the rally. Pastor Walter Landgraf, LWML counselor, led prayer.

A spaghetti-splash social was held Wednesday evening in the Baptist Church parlors for the CYF and their parents and the Kings Cou ples. A pleasant program featured several participating families and strong community spirit.

The Village Board of Polk met May 2 1967 at the Polk Hotel to finish 1966 67 business. Norris Alfred elected permanent chairman. Ed Saylor temporary chair. Sundberg’s Hardware and Local Bills Reported for Payment

Trustee Killion moved to approve the bills from various vendors including Sundberg’s Hardware Tiney’s Electric Supply Co and Leese for irrigation supplies plus gas and oil payments. The board authorized warrants from respective accounts and adjourned after approving the fund disbursements.

Polk Village approves 1967-68 budget plan and public meeting

The Polk Nebraska village board adopts an expenditure estimate for the year ending May 7 1968 totaling 7 000 for general purposes 2 200 for street work 500 for library 1 000 for fire protection 1 500 for parks 1 500 for amusements 800 for buildings 13 000 to retire sewer bonds and interest and 800 for social security taxes. The plan will be published in The Polk Progress for four weeks with a public meeting set for June 6 1967 at 8 00 PM in the hotel lobby to pass the annual appropriation bill.
