Marshall Tewell arrived from Camp Dodge after discharge. five months in France as truck driving instructor. Twenty five years ago Orlie Miller married Garnet Samuels. Victoria Nelson left Polk Mercantile for the Telephone Co. Dana Westfall returned home for spring vacation from Crete.

Club Week trip offered by railway for top county club

Burlington Railway Co. granted a free trip to Club Week at Lincoln in June for the county’s top scoring boys and girls club. Miss Stevens runs a cooking club. A. E. Swanson and family visited Lincoln. Oscar and Amel Larson with Carl and Gunnard Stohl enjoyed a trip to Clay Center and Aurora, visiting a radio station. The Progress marks 21 years and remains flourishing.

Miss Doris Bush and Glenn Wieseman wed in 1939 ceremony

Ten years ago on March 30, 1939 Miss Doris Bush married Glenn Wieseman in a ceremony at the Highe theatre parsonage with Rev. J. Henry Stilt officiating. Nearby notes report birthday greetings for Mrs. Kroger and visits from Elaine Wilcox and Adolph Johnson returning from hospital.

Bankers Honor Polk 4-H Leaders at Banquet

The second annual Bankers Banquet in Osceola honored Polk County 4-H leaders and their spouses with nearly 100 attendees. The event featured a 4-H themed supper, decorations, speeches, and awards including silver pins for five years of leadership. Harriet McCauley received the Union Pacific Scholarship and other leaders were recognized for service.

Local Figures Attend Ice Capades and Birthday Celebrations

The Rev. E Earle Eaton and daughter Hope Gwendolynne motored to Omaha last Saturday to attend the Ice Capades. Neighbors and friends helped Mrs Lloyd Stromberg celebrate her birthday anniversary Friday afternoon. About 35 relatives gathered Thursday at the Ruben Anderson home to mark the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Anderson, with Nor Ris Anderson also honored on the occasion.
