Surprise Birthday Party for Mrs. Will Garling

Mrs. Will Garling enjoyed a pleasant birthday gathering at her home on a Wednesday evening. Friends and relatives presented gifts and cards while a self invited group provided a lunch. Attendees included Elaine Garling, Walt Scheele, Pastor Long, and several local residents.

Polk village election set for April 4 1950

The Village of Polk in Polk County Nebraska will hold an election on Tuesday April 4 1950 for two school board members of District No 72 for three years and three village trustees for two years. Voting takes place at the Fire Station from 8 a m to 8 p m. Eldon R Johnson Village Clerk.

Faithful Workers Club Elects Officers for 1950 51

Mrs Charles Norquest hosted the Faithful Workers Club meeting on March 21 with 19 members present. Mrs Cleo Cramer was elected president, with Mrs Lawrence Larson as vice president and Mrs Chiff Carlson as secretary. Other officers include Mrs Charles Norquest treasurer and Mrs Fred Williams pianist. Floral committee includes Mrs Florence Bergren and Mrs Emory Cramer. Refreshments were provided by Mr and Mrs Martin Hoffman Jr and Mr and Mrs Seth Piper. Visitors from Dennison Iowa included Mr and Mrs Robert Merchant and Mr and Mrs George Otte.

The First Baptist Church under Rev. Elwood Anderson lists 10 a m Sunday School with Rena Mae Willits as superintendent, 6 45 p m Young People meeting, and 8 p m no church service. A community choir will perform Easter music at the school auditorium. Harold Bedient attended Vacation Church School Workers institute at Sutton.
