Gunnard Peterson 66 longtime Polk county sheriff died of a heart attack Saturday morning at Stromsburg hospital after attending a Father Son banquet. He had filed for re election and no opposition was listed. Deputy Lee Johnson acts as sheriff until a successor is appointed. funeral held at Stromsburg Baptist church with body laid in state earlier that week.

Obituary of Josephine Benson Pioneer Mother of Hordville
Josephine Albertnea Benson born in Sweden December 16 1871 died March 29 1950 at 78 years. She moved from Sweden to York Nebraska then Marquette and finally Hordville in 1903 where she resided. She married Swan Isaac Benson on June 6 1894 and had five children. A stroke on November 12 led to a long decline she faced it with fortitude. She leaves three daughters Mable Biber Goldie Lampshire and Mildred Larson 11 grandchildren seven great grandchildren and many relatives. The service by Rev Edick A Anderson assisted by Rev Nels Pearson featured hymns sung by Robert Erickson Lennert Johnson Blanche Johnson pallbearers listed. She rests in the Baptist cemetery with family.

In Polk a 60 member community choir drew a large audience on Palm Sunday under the direction of Leota Sneed. The Holdrege native and Nebraska University School of Music graduate directs multiple Polk ensembles and teaches at the high school, balancing English and Drivers Education with music leadership and private lessons. Her dedication to choral work culminated in organizing the Easter cantata practice series starting February 12 with 12 sessions. F W Peterson Dies in California at 73
Mrs Walter Binford received a telegram that her brother F W Peterson of Turlock California died after a short illness in a Turlock hospital. He was 73. Mrs Binford and nieces left Grand Island to attend the California funeral held Monday and will stay about a week before returning home.
