Obituaries and notes from three decades in a Kansas town

Thirty two years ago Will Salchow died on February 28 leaving a wife five daughters and a son. Various births and relocations are noted including a daughter born to E E Anderson and to Elmer Peterson, visits by Chas Evans from Audubon and a trip to San Francisco by Serg and Mrs. Lindburg. Twenty years ago C E Putman died at 72 with services in Polk cemetery and other moves and anniversaries are recorded. Ten years ago Fred Bedient’s birthday and gatherings marked the year. Gertrude Flick died, and several marriages and anniversaries were celebrated in the community. The fragment ends with the marriage of Marjone Nelson and Gerald Holm and their plans to reside at the Nelson home.

Easter Dinner Hosts And Anniversary Plans In Osceola Area

Osceola residents Mr and Mrs Roy Elin hosted Easter dinner at their farm west of Osceola with Mr and Mrs Dredge Harold Carlson and family attending. Polk’s Legion Post marks its 22nd birthday with ceremonies. Katharine Anna Miller, daughter of Floyd and Bernice Miller, died March 9 after a brief illness.

Birthday and visiting notices fill Lincoln week

Mrs Hannah Hahn and Dwa yne visited in Lincoln with Mrs E W Hahn and called at the Edgar Ziegelbein home. Mrs J C McClure celebrated a birthday with 16 relatives and neighbors, readings, poems, songs, and a cake. Linda Johnson enjoyed a seventh birthday party with 15 schoolmates and cousins and Easter favors. Baptist church youths hosted a Stromsburg group with music, talk, and a Christ’s life program. Polk group served lunch for 35.
