Not Too Late to Fertilize Wheat Says Nebraska Expert
Dr M D Welklon extension oils specialists at the University of Nebraska says nitrogen fertilizer may be applied to wheat at any time in the spring up to mid April. Nebraska tests show spring application is about as effective as fall, with 23 experiments in south central Nebraska yielding 9 bushels per acre from spring versus 10 from fall for 40 pounds of nitrogen.
