Official proceedings record the February 4 1975 Polk County Board meeting with all members present. A motion to approve claims and warrants across funds is passed. a disaster area resolution is proposed to aid drought affected residents and agricultural loans.
An observer criticizes modern farm practice and corporate control, attacking tax shelters, large-scale oil and agribusiness ventures, and the decline of family farms. He laments urban sprawl, dislocated rural workers, and the encroachment of machines over traditional farming.
The board approved the bond of Virgil V. Bugbee as County Superintendent of Schools. It also approved a report on non resident high school tuition funds and authorized Federal Matching Funds for acquisition of right of way for Federal Aid Secondary Road Project No. S-6513 372. The motion on the road funds was seconded by Daum and all voting members approved. The meeting adjourned at 4 50 p.m. to reconvene February 25 1975, with an agenda to be available at the County Clerk's office.
Mr and Mrs James Brazda with grandchildren Robin and Kristi joined family to celebrate Al fred Brejdha turning 75 at Western. Reuben Swanson Marvin Branting Randy Marla and Robbie Glassero joined Leslie Branting for lunch after a basketball game. Mrs Ed Dobberstein had Sunday dinner with Mrs Anna Rau.
