Mr and Mrs Jack L Oglevie of Holdrege announce the engagement of their daughter Robin Jean Oglevie to Victor Le Roy Bender son of Mr and Mrs Melvin Bender of Polk The couple planning an August 30 wedding Robin is a 1975 graduate of Central Technical Community College Hastings and a Methodist Memorial Homes employee Victor is a Polk High School 1973 graduate and 1974 Grand Island School of Business graduate now farming.

Mr Walter Nelson and Isolde Gustafson underwent or prepared for surgery, Mrs Clyde Kennel and Mrs Walter Bush admitted, Mrs Bethel King moved to St. Elizabeths in Lincoln for treatment, and Mrs Ed Hanson and Enoch Peterson returned home after stays at York and Osceola hospitals respectively.
Senior citizens are invited to an April Fool's Day party on Tuesday April 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Legion Hall. Dress as a fool and bring a homemade band instrument. Sponsored by the Junior Legion Auxiliary.

Paula Bills of Yastings School of Nursing enrolled in nursing program at Children’s Hospital Omaha receives a $100 grant from the Nurse Gift Tuition Scholarship of the American Legion Auxiliary Nebraska Department. Polk Unit 160 submitted her application.
Mr and Mrs Arnold Neuhaus traveled to Humphrey on Sunday while Mrs Neuhaus attended a bridal shower for Cheryl Reichmuth. Arnold visited his brother George in the hospital in Schuyler. The Neuhauses were evening visitors at the Alvin Reichmuth home in Humphrey. Mr and Mrs Robert Stevens of Lincoln joined Mr and Mrs Alvin Dahlin for Friday dinner and supper.
More than 200 people enjoyed pancakes and sausage at the Polk Community Club event Saturday raising money for the Community Hall remodel. Donations to the Hall Fund totaled 199 dollars, with individual gifts from multiple residents. Lowell Bills sustained a toe injury during cleanup. Volunteers plan ongoing fund drives and weekly donor notices, while a Community Improvement Program Council forms from local organizations to oversee the renovation drive.
Polk area notices Sunday dinner guests marked wedding anniversaries for Gordon Fossberg Phil Thomas and Daryl Fossberg with family members from Holdrege Lincoln and Philips. Other visits included Rodney Johnsons family in Philips and Wilbur Jones in Central City with Vern Jones.
