Carpenters Rebuild Burned Baptist Church Interior

H E Larson and crew remodel and repair the burned Baptist Church, adding a balcony. Local events include a band benefit banquet at the hotel, 4-H book gift to library, and student basketball honors at Polk High School with Giltner. Multiple families attend services, visits, and weekend gatherings noted.

Heart Fund Drive Nets $233 In Area

The Heart Fund Drive in February across Polk and nearby rural areas raised 232.97 dollars. American Legion Auxiliary thanks contributors and workers, with committee members Lyle Widga Dwane Burney Lowell Bills and Ernest Brockevelt named. Local groups include Immanuel Lutheran Faithful Workers and American Legion Aux. Seeding land to permanent pasture is highlighted as a key conservation practice in Nebraska with Polk County planting 5219 acres.

Mr and Mrs C Marvin Fredrick son visited his mother Mrs Julia Flodman Sunday evening. Mr and Mrs Leslie Adelson were guests in the Arthur Piinee home in York. Ollie Johnson visited the Adelsons Wednesday. Home Society annual card party March 8 drew 41 attendees with sandwiches pie and coffee. Mr and Mrs P W Aker were coffee guests of Lee Anderson and girls Sunday. Aker also called on Mrs Mae Austin at Central City hospital and visited Mrs Milford Johnson at Park View Home.

Sunday School Bowling Party in York

Mrs Forrest Anderson and Mrs Irvin Anderson hosted their United Methodist Church Sunday School classes for a bowling party at Sunset Bowling Lanes in York. High scores were posted by Jeanette Larson and Murray Ostberg, followed by lunch at the lanes. Transportation was provided by Mrs Lawrence Larson, Mrs Burdetta Flodman, and Don Widga for the teenagers and teachers.

Rev and Mrs Gene Wood and family visited Dannebrog at Sunday dinner with Mr and Mrs Gale Smith. The Woods attended a Pastor Fellowship in Hordville Monday evening hosted by Pastor and Mrs Loren Winchester. Ella Eaton of Central City and Don Eaton and Jackie of Wayne joined Melvin Bender for Friday evening visits. Richard Johnson and family of Clarkes ate lunch with the Benders after a Thursday basketball game. Sharon Larson and girls from Lincoln stayed with her parents Leslie and Mrs Adelson Saturday and Sunday. Harold Anderson and sons were Sunday dinner guests of his parents Oscar and family.

Polk Chapter Honors Star Supervisor at OES meeting

Willana Chapter No 321 O E S held a February 24 school of instructions event entertaining district supervisor Charlene Shenk. Hostesses Delma Nielsen Darlene Shoup and Don Shoup served luncheon at Corner Cafe. Evening session featured initiation and a talk by Nielsen. gifts given to Shenk. Auxiliary members and guests attended a 6:30 dinner.
