Marcia Myers Chosen for Cornhusker Girls State

Marcia Lee Myers, daughter of Mr and Mrs Dean Myers, will represent the American Legion Auxiliary at Cornhusker Girls State June 7–13, 1969 on the University of Nebraska Lincoln campus. Alternate is Deanne Meerkatz. The program teaches girls government by active participation in a nonpartisan setting.

Polk High finishes 13 wins 8 losses. Clarks defeats Polk 62 52 in the regional playoff at David City as Sutko Lindburg and Herman lead Clarks while Carlstrom Wood and Lindburg pace Polk. Osceola and Stromsburg advance from the Goldenrod Conference toward Lincoln state tournament.

Rodney Whittemore 56 dies in Lincoln services held

Rodney Whittemore 56 of Elmwood died Thursday March 6 in Lincoln. Services were held Monday in Lincoln with burial in Elmwood. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Charles Whittemore formerly of Polk and now residents of the Park View Home in Central City.

The Polk Woman's Club gathered at Mrs P W Aker's home on a Tuesday afternoon in March. Members discussed plans for an outside event and approved a donation to the Easter Seal Drive. Farmers Co-op Oil Reports 163951 Profit at 42nd Meeting

The Farmers Union Co-op Oil Association held its 42nd annual meeting at the Viking Center in Stromsburg with about 150 attendees. Gary Allison chaired. fiscal year sales reached 1,732,352.56 and net savings 163,951.57. A ten year progress total savings reached 1,250,000. Raymond Beebe was elected to the board, replacing Allison who received thanks for five years of service. A new station in Stromsburg and equity plans were discussed.

Auxiliary Plans 50th Anniversary Supper

American Legion Auxiliary met in the Legion Hall on March 10 with Elaine Miller leading the business session. Topics included a February 22 Roller Skating Party, a March 21 pot luck supper and family night for the Legion’s 50th birthday, and the April presentation of the American Essay Contest winners Leanne Sundberg Phyllis Ostberg and Paula Bills. Donations supported the Heart Fund Seminar Rehabilitation Recreation Child Welfare Foundation.
