May general fund rises as state reports increases

Lincoln state treasurer George E. Halil notes the general fund balance grew by more than 200000 in May. May 31 balance stood at 543531 versus 311706 at month start, with all revenue and trust funds totaling 21268149 up from 21123935. Current revenue fund ended May at 6257193, up from 6162558 in April.

Unofficial counts place North Platte near fourth in Nebraska population with about 17 000, up 5 000 since 1930. Hastings 15 490 and Grand Island 18 041 were fourth and third in 1930. Standard loan plans reached 37178 farm families securing 10466972 dollars while emergency grants benefited 65027 families for 4936025 dollars. D F Felton announces Nebraska WPA centers employ 2 761 women across 53 shops and have produced 334 722 garments since last November. He notes 82.1 percent of funds fund labor and 17.9 percent go to materials. The largest center is in Omaha with 1 023 workers.
