Dependent Children Aid Expands in Polk County
Polk County has received three certificates for Aid to Dependent Children from the State Child Welfare Bureau representing 12 children and $122 per month in state and federal funds. About 10 cases remain to be investigated. Full operation would total $501.22 monthly in state and federal funds under Mrs Maud E B Nyquist.

Local Legion Men Get Their Bonus
World War veterans here were made happy Tuesday with the arrival of soldiers bonus bonds. The local total is estimated at 32,500 dollars shared by 34 veterans. Bonds are in 30 dollar denominations. largest near 1,500 dollars and smallest about 190 dollars. Most veterans will cash bonds quickly to pay debts buy autos or rebuild homes and use the money to good advantage.
Hail Losses May Exceed Five Thousand Dollars
Isaacson of Citizen's State Bank reports sixty seven hail losses from recent storms. Adjusters have worked a week with losses ranging from 100 percent to five percent. The heaviest hail centered southwest of Polk with losses paid across surrounding territory. Estimated total losses may exceed five thousand dollars.

Cook Sandberg Couple Married in Columbus Office
Miss Madeline Cook and Elmer Sandberg wed on Monday by County Judge Spekce in the courthouse office at Columbus. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cook of Clarks, graduated Osceola High in 1933 and taught in a Hamilton County rural school last year. The groom is the son of August Sandberg of near Clarks. They will live on a farm southeast of Clarks. Also notes: Mrs. Frank Davis and son Kenneth visited at the F C Crane home in Aurora while Mr Davis attended a Commercial Club banquet. I Samuelson visited his sister Mrs Victor Anderson at Stromsburg and attended the Swedish Baptist Conference there. A car collided with Clyde Willits’ truck east of Osceola. the car overturned but Willits uninjured and other occupants lightly hurt.
