Polk Village Estimates 1938 39 Budget Approved

The Village of Polk Nebraska approves an expense estimate for the year ending May 1 1939 totaling 13 261 93 revenue for 1938. Items include street 200, general 2000 library 350 paving bond fund 1500 interest 1500 fire 100 park 200 water fund 500 and more. Meeting set July 5 1938 at 8 PM to pass the appropriation bill.

Community Notes From Local Families And Visits

Mr and Mrs Ray Petson and Burdette returned Monday evening from a visit with the Elmer Peterson family in Denver. Various locals traveled to Lincoln and Kansas City and a John Deere Combine was purchased by A P Bowman. A Flying Fingers Sewing Club gathering occurred June 16 with luncheon and plans to meet July 7. A week of visits included Benedit and Grand Island hospital trips as well as Father’s Day dinners hosted by Mr and Mrs Leo Wurtz. A large picnic near City Park celebrated Mr and Mrs C E Giaque and daughter from Brush Colorado with numerous locals attending including Greens and Bedients. Additional visits spanned Swede Home, Antelope Park, and Lincoln pilgrimages. A church group hosted BYP A at Hardville with a family reunion in Orleans. A dance is announced at Havens on June 24 with Nat Towles band. Paul Strand drives a new Chevrolet bought in York.
