Paving Contract Let for Polk Village 250000 Yards

The Polk Village Fathers awarded Murphy and Company of Omaha a contract to pave 250000 yards of black paving. Work starts August 20 and should finish by December 1. Willard Tenny, recently discharged from the U S Army band at Walter Reed, has returned home. Mr and Mrs Falk welcomed a baby daughter Wednesday night. The Baptist church Women’s Missionary Society and World Wide Guild hosted a dinner honoring Mrs A H Nickell wife of the pastor. Rev Nickell and family depart in September for Louisville Kentucky for further study.

Miss Phyllis Krahulik of Omaha who will teach in Polk is in town Saturday getting acquainted. Miss Grayce Stevens left for Kearney to spend a few days with her sister Ildred who attends teachers' college there.

Bakery Moves to Clarks for First Class Bakery and Lunch Counter

Mr Strasburg relocated his bakery and equipment to Clarks last week to run a first class bakery and lunch counter. Mr and Mrs Arnold Crow and family were guests at Henry Shostrom home Monday for a supper honoring Irene Shostrom and Rosemary Crow's seventh birthday.

Marion Kealiher was bruised when his hay rake team ran away. C O Eckles and C R Peterson hosted a gathering for Mr and Mrs D B Carter, who moved to Sutton, and Mr and Mrs Pollock who move to Fremont. refreshments followed.
