Willits Family Reunion At Buckley Park Stromsburg

The Willits family held a reunion at Buckley Park in Stromsburg on Sunday July 10 with 96 attendees including 96 year old Wm McEntire and 88 year old Mrs Olive O Vincent. Guests included Budd Vincent mother and visiting kin from Rogers Arkansas, and local Willits relatives with several notables tied to Osceola and Stromsburg. A number of non Willits guests also joined, and Ralph Willits played shortstop for Stromsburg at the evening ball game against David City. The reunion aims to become an annual event on the third Sunday in June.

A group gathered at the Glen Hill home last Sunday for a basket dinner honoring F. W. Peterson of Turlock California. Anna Emerensia Bylander Huffman born in Sweden June 28 1880 died June 26 1949 aged 68 11 months 29 days She came to Omaha with her parents in 1883 and married Frank P Huffman in 1910 They had one son John and a niece Doris Lorraine Gertsch survived by husband Frank son John of Stromsburg one brother Aaron Bylander Omaha two sisters Carrie Hansen and Teckla Curry several nieces and nephews Funeral services were held June 28 1949 at Brauer Funeral Home Polk with interment at Swede Home cemetery in Omaha Officiating was Rev Edick A Anderson.

Funeral services for George Clement Grosvenor 74 were held at Central City with Rev. Dawson Park and Rev. O W Carrell officiating. Knights of Pythias conducted grave services. Grosvenor born February 24 1875 at Merrick county. Survived by Lorena Rose Hill wife one daughter Mrs W L McLean son Jerry Grosvenor five grandchildren and four siblings. Burial Central City cemetery. He was a rural mail carrier from 1920 to 1940. He was brother in law of Wayne and Melvin Hill of Polk.
