A large Steelquist-Anderson gathering filled Central City park Sunday with attendees including Mr and Mrs Carl Lundell of Provo Utah Mrs Robert Rasmussen and daughter and Dennis Anderson of Glendale Calif Mr and Mrs Carl Steelquist of Lincoln and others from Polk Marquette and nearby towns plus extended visits and dinners at several homes.

Dr C R Peterson Sets Up Dental Practice in Polk

Thirty years ago July 24 1919 notes report Dr C R Peterson is located in Polk ready to handle all dental work. Other items include hogs sold for 2285 at the Omaha Market, Carl Jones expected home, Peterson and Plessinger building a new feed barn, A S Anderson selling his shoe repair shop to T J Nelson, Karl Kindstedt guiding the business until August and then taking a farm rest period.

Arbor ville sewing club hosts ladies gathering

Mrs Fred Williams entertained the girls sewing club of Arbor ville at her home on Wednesday. Miss Helen Ramsey and Miss Ber Nice Wah served refreshments. Also notes on birthdays and local business changes appear among brief items.

Miss Vivian Warner Weds Vernon Anderson in Greens Chapel

Ten years ago on July 27, 1939 Vivian Esther Warner daughter of Mr and Mrs Ray Warner Greens Chapel and Vernon Anderson of Stromsburg were married at the parents home by Rev E O Widen of St Cloud Minnesota. Mrs Mary Klone and others visited Mrs Ray Rudeen at Lee. High Prairie Home group met at Mrs H Samuelson’s home July 11. Paulie Ekstrom visited. Rena Mae Willits was absent. Lunch was served by Mrs Samuelson. Laura Johnson spent a week at Wahoo with sister Ruth employed there.

Polk Village approves annual tax levy ordinance

Ordinance No. 124 sets the annual appropriation and tax levy for Polk Nebraska for the year ending April 30 1950. It levies 5 mills for General purposes 3 mills for Street purposes 0.75 mills for Library 0.4 mills for Fire protection 0.5 mills for Fire equipment and maintenance 1 mill for Park and amusement and 1 mill for Auditorium maintenance. The sections name valuation methods and specify appropriations totaling 1900 for general 250 for library 700 for streets 300 for fire 350 for park and amusement and 350 for auditorium. Passed July 5 1949 by Chairman C Marvin Fredrickson and Village Clerk Eldon Johnson.
