Stransburg Fourth of July boosters visit Polk in lively parade

The Stransburg Fourth of July boosters toured Polk in 22 cars with a band and quartet. The Heartline show at Viking Hall drew a good crowd after a slow start. A Polk vs Marquette baseball game drew fans as Polk won 9 to 7. Dr R Peterson and Rodney Allison played with the York Military band at Grand Island for the celebration. Rusty Evans of York fought Kid Worley of Shelton in Aurora. A sewing club formed at Miss Fern Myers home with 15 members meeting Fridays. Mrs Clarence Anderson observed a birthday with relatives visiting, including F P Anderson, Walter Widga, John Elving, and R C Widga.

Bertha and Maurice Nyberg hosted guests at their Lake Erick cottage weekend. Walter Barnstein Linten Osterholm Thersia Dearborn and others joined. Merle Runquist injured his hand in a horse mishap. A Bridal shower for Mr and Mrs Richard Sealey followed. The Baptist Church Women’s Circle met with Mrs A W Lyons reviewing The Cutter's book. The Bottums moved to Aurora and Sundbergs plan a month trip to the West Coast. Polkites attended Aurora Fourth of July. Miss Viola Brauer, a nurse, returns home from York for rest and health.
