Rodine Jones Wedding Seals Thirty-Year Family Bond

On June 26 191% Mr and Mrs Wilmer Rodine united in marriage and 30 years later their daughter Alice Marie wed Eugene Jones son of Mr and Mrs Wilmer Jones of Hordville at the Evangelical Free Church in Polk The ceremony featured a candlelit altar and a white carpeted aisle with a long train gown of satin and a silk illusion veil The reception for 100 followed with toasts music and gifts The couple will live in Columbus Nebraska where Jones works as a radio announcer at KJSK

Hemmingsen Willits wedding at Marquette manor

Miss Elva Lou Hemmingsen and Dale E Willits wed Sunday at the Hemmingsen home in Marquette in a double ring ceremony by Rev J A Holst of Kronberg. The bride wore white dotted swiss with blue velvet band and carried pink roses. Attendants included Thomas Kurskey. reception followed at the bride’s home. After July 15 they will reside in Columbus. Out of town guests listed from Polk Clarks Lincoln and other towns.

Polk County 4-H Judging Day Highlights Local Representation

The District 4-H Home Economics judging day in Columbus on June 21 drew five counties with Polk County sending 33 girls and 12 leaders among nine clubs. Groups covered cooking clothing and home making with beginners and advanced levels, featuring judging practice, interviews, and songs.

Caution On Polio Equipment Donations In Nebraska

Nebraska NFIP warns local groups about promoting purchases of hot pack machines respirators walkers and other polio treatment devices. They urge medical staff approval availability checks and proper equipment testing before sponsoring any project while noting 30 respirators exist statewide and loans can be arranged through county NFIP chapters backed by March of Dimes.

Rain and Hail Rip Through Polk County Again

A severe storm drenched Polk County on Saturday night with cloud burst rainfall, flooding Osceola and surrounding areas. Reports show 1.47 inches in town and up to 3 inches elsewhere, with hail damaging crops and livestock west of town. Harvest is delayed as fields soak and farmers are kept from work.

Graveside services for Pic Earl I. Widga 26 son of Mr and Mrs L N Widga York were held at Stromsburg cemetery at 230 pm Wednesday for a soldier killed in action on Luzon March 17 1945 He served with the First Infantry Sixth Division entered the army from Polk County in June 1941 overseas 18 months He is survived by his parents and five sisters Chalmer Daniels Silver Creek Floyd Morris Chapman James Schneider Omaha Herbert Tracy Lincoln and Marlyce at home.

Four-Leaf Clover Club Reports June Meeting

The Four Leaf Clover Club met with Donna Monson on June 26. Five members attended and learned table courtesy and dish washing. Judges evaluated Spice Cup Cakes and Hot Water Sponge Cake. Virginia Harding shared Judging Day details from Columbus on Monday June 21. A nice lunch was served and the meeting closed with 4-H club songs.
