Local Hosts Share Sunday Meals in Polk County

Polk County residents hosted relatives and guests for Sunday meals. Bob Iler and the Broken Bow girls joined Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Adelson for supper. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hahn and children visited the Swanson family of Central City for evening meals. Afternoon guests at P. W. Aker’s included Emma Horstman and Rose Schweitzer.

Polk County Fair Board Plans 1967 Event

The Polk County Fair board met February 13 in Osceola to map the August 17 to 19 fair. Entertainment includes Olympic Daredevils with cars and motorcycles on opening night, a Grand Ole Opry style show on Friday, and a free Barbeque finale on Saturday along with the 4-H Awards. With Nebraska Centennial celebrations in mind, plans consider a parade, Nebraskaland caravan stop, and possibly Miss Nebraska. Meetings will continue to refine ideas.

Birthday honors with extended family gatherings

Sunday dinner and supper were hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ilos Ostberg for her birthday. Numerous relatives and friends attended including the Ostbergs, Lindahls of Clarks, and Graves of Central City, with others from Hardville Lincoln and York visiting for meals and a movie outing.

The Sixth Grade Is Rolling Tumbling

Sixth graders describe PE tumbling activities from log rolls to pyramids. Science and art integrate with skeletal study and wire sculptures. They explore geometry in math and imagine travel to Canada and Latin American destinations as the year ends.

School calendar lists events including Class C District Tournament at Central City on Feb 20 21 23 24 and junior high events at Clarks on Feb 23 and March 6 7 8. National Merit Qualifying Test on March 28 Jr high basketball at Clarks with 50 cent admission and 25 cent for students, and interscholastic at Kearney on March 17.

Obituary of Elsie Coordis, Osceola resident

Elsie Alvina Coordis Wallace Cole born August 4 1902 Blanca Colorado died February 12 1967 Columbus Nebraska. She married Lloyd Cole in 1925 Council Bluffs Iowa moved to Osceola 1929 ran a family grocery until 1942. Survived by son Gene seven grandchildren one great grandchild one brother Henry Becker Denver. Services February 15 Osceola Methodist Church with interment Osceola Cemetery.
