Local Items and District Court Session This Week

Osceola hosts district court in session this week while area residents conduct land and business affairs. Numerous local entries note marriages, relocations, travel, and market activity across York, Stromsburg, Saronville, and Ogallala regions with several trips to Omaha and Lincoln.

Ten Years Ago February 11 1926 Local notices and arrivals

Ten years ago on February 11 1926 residents and visitors appear in Osceola and nearby towns. Mr and Mrs H O Bedient arrive from Marsland to visit relatives, while Will Kroger and R B Williams family members travel to Omaha to ship cattle. A mumps case forces Martin Jones to cancel dates, and John Meerkatz travels to Central City for tonsil removal with his 12 year old twin daughters. An ownership change brings Walter J Herbes to Osceola from Ulysses and Osceola Record owner buys the paper from Phil Douglas. Residents attend events at the Odd Fellows Lodge and dinners host guests at the Harry Shafer home. In births, a baby girl is born to Thelanders and Ramona Marguerite arrives January 27 to the Nelsons. A Tudor Ford and a new truck join the area fleet. Neuritis strikes Mrs A K Crow. Postmaster Shafer notes a ill sister in Pennsylvania. Local financials list various road and district expenses and a county board adjourns to February 18 1936.

Estate hearing set for Hedbloom heirs in Polk County

Helen C. Price petitions in Polk County Nebraska on January 30 1936 to determine the heirs and descent of Albert B. Hedbloom who died January 4 1931. Hearing scheduled February 28 1936 at 10 a m in Osceola County Court. Registrar W W Norton presiding.
