Stromsburg Wins Polk County Basketball Tournament
The Polk County Tournament ended Tuesday with Stromsburg claiming the championship and permanent possession of the trophy after a close final against Osceola. Polk won the second team title 22 to 21 over Stromsburg, while Polk defeated Shelby 331 to 27 in the consolation. Osceola beat Polk 19 to 10 in a tight final, and Horstman of Polk presented the trophies.

Obituary of Fredolph J Carlson in Polk Nebraska
Fredolph J Carlson was born September 3, 1909 in Polk Nebraska and died January 31, 1936 at York Nebraska’s Lutheran Hospital at age 26. He suffered a ruptured appendix with peritonitis during surgery and died despite care. He grew up in Polk, educated locally, and was converted in 1929 during Evangelistic meetings led by Miss Heefner and Miss Sudenga. He was shy and devoted to family, leaving father, sister Mrs Alfreda Oberg, sisters Alice and Nannie, brother Gordon, a brother-in-law and niece Rae Jeanne Oberg. Two brothers Edward C and Robert S and his mother preceded him in death. Funeral Wednesday at Swede Plain Methodist Church with Rev E B Pengelly and Rev Bailey. interment Swede Plain Cemetery. A quartet sang and flower girls served as pallbearers.

The eleven men and one woman orchestra from Omaha faced a stranded bus one mile east of Shelby, forced to walk to Earl Crook farm in a blizzard. They reached Shelby after midnight and, with local help, received medical aid for frozen extremities before returning to Omaha Tuesday.

Clyde Willits delivered stock to the Omaha market for Frank Larson Wednesday, with Larson accompanying.

Blizzard Strands Stromsburg Residents For Weekend
A severe storm froze Stromsburg area life with townsfolk stranded and deliveries halted. Milk and bread trucks failed to reach town while buses and trains were disrupted until Sunday night. A U. S. snow plow from York finally cleared paths, with stock trucks and oil transports following. Schools closed for two days, and residents faced widespread travel disruption and weather-related delays.
Blizzards Delay Travel and School Closures Reported in Swede Home
Whitie Gibron and Rex Heinemeyer of Clarks were stalled by a blizzard on Friday evening and sheltered at Axel Fredrickson’s farm until the storm eased. Schools in the community closed earlier in the week, and residents helped with chores and visits, including Miss Myra Fredrickson staying with neighbors and Bas ket Ball Tournament attendees from the area traveling to Stroméburg.
