Fifteen years ago Polk residents enjoyed an Odd Fellows oyster feed. Dave Carlson and Melba Ann attended Sousa concerts in Lincoln. Z F Myers moved A V Burke furniture to Seward. Burke family trips to Stromsburg and Seward followed. Floyd Quick and Clarissa Jarmin wed in York. Walter Binford visited his mother in Council Bluffs. Mrs J E McDaniel became Polk library librarian. Paul Strand visited from Grand Island. John Nordstrom started a business in Polk.
A visitor to Osceola last Friday reports a newborn baby boy born to Mr and Mrs O A Stromberg on Wednesday evening. Dr C R Peterson and Walter Widga visited Grand Island today with Walter set for jaw surgery to remove three embedded teeth. Mrs F A Adelson and Mr and Mrs Alex Adelson traveled to Columbus to visit Mrs Albert Hult in hospital, improving. Carl Detloff and Arnold Crow couples and Rose Mary York callers Monday. Alfred Shockey suffered facial burns from a gasoline stove explosion Saturday. Rolland Dahlin plans Kansas City vocational training soon. Rev Green to resign Swedish Mission charge and move to Chicago to attend school.
Wallace Scott family visited in Progress tonight while the Wurtz welcomed an 8 1 2 pound baby girl. Chas Drew traveled to Lincoln on business. Ostberg brothers each lost a horse to corn stalk disease. Thirteen year old Donald Quick was shot in the leg near Hardville. bullet removed in York. Theo DeGroot moves to Madison. Postmaster Shafer and others visited in York. Harold Schultz left for Racine after a two week stay. Harless and Kerker visited York and Stroms burg. Sandell hauled porkers to Omaha. Whittemore visits Cen tral City.
Swede Plains M E Church and Free Mission Church announce Sunday worships at 10 and 11 with Sunday School at 10 and 11. Christmas programs are planned for the Sunday after Christmas and Wednesday December 23. A Christmas morning service is set for 5 30 am with all invited.
The M E Church schedules Sunday School at 10 A.M worship at 11 15 with a Christmas message and evening program at 7 30. The Baptist Church lists Sunday School 10 worship 11 and BYPU at 6 45 with a Christmas cantata at 8 and a parish meeting Monday. Both invite all to attend Christmas events and music.
Rev. Carl F. Juergensen leads regular German services next Sunday at 10 o clock in the morning with radio services each Sunday at 3 30 P M K F A B Lincoln. There will be no evening services.
