Central City Weekend Social Roundup

Misses Tressa and Vera Hill and Mildred Nelson visited Grand Island Thursday where they enjoyed the Imperial Orchestra. H A Murphy and family returned Monday from an auto trip to Broken Bow and Litchfield. Chas Bowers bought a new Cleveland sedan from a Lincoln dealer Saturday. Ernest Kerker traveled from Lincoln Tuesday to review farm interests. Mrs Harry Dahlgren came back Friday from Hastings visiting friends. Ed Garson and wife attended Chautauqua in Hardville Sunday. G M Hill left Monday by auto for an outing at Lake Ericson, plan Chadron and other state stops before returning home. Bob Cohagan and family departed Monday by auto for Arnold to visit relatives.

Mrs T A Stevens returned from Lincoln after visiting her sister Mrs Nellie Nelson who had an operation. Dr Slusser Daisy Slusser and Mrs J L Stouffer left for Denver to visit relatives and Misses Gladys and Margaret Stouffer Harold Slusser. Edwin Swanson Roy Johnson Thelma Willits Leonard Swanson Vera Harless Dick Sealey Gerald Whitworth Stanley Harless Margaret Johnson Edwin Lewis Esther Larson attended Friserton Chautauqua. Mr and Mrs W H Pollock and children came home from Los Angeles. Bryan on the road to recovery after a serious operation. Mrs Alex Adelson and Lloyd and Mrs August Swanson left for Denver to visit their sister Mrs Fred Peterson. Miss Lorna Alfred will teach school in the F W Fossberg district. Phylis Peterson from Lincoln visited Vera and Tressa Hill.

Fifteen Years Ago Highlights in Local Happenings

Recollections include Wallace Sandell returning from a Colorado honeymoon and relatives arriving home from a Colorado and Wyoming trip. A miscellaneous shower honored Hazel Stevens at Mrs Johns home with local hostesses assisting. Henry Mundt family to Crete for father’s 76th birthday and reunion. Clark Snodgrass hosted dinner for Mrs J Nelson's birthday. Polk Lodge AF and AM held picnic and fried chicken dinner at Riverside Park. Attendees Reed and Lindahl at funeral of C G Gylling in Osceola. Ten years ago in 1937, church voted to erect a permanent tabernacle on camp ground. School board official notified of remodeling funded at 25,000 dollars. Polk County wheat valued at 467,470 dollars. State Fair preparations included booster trip by Lincoln Chamber Junior Division. Genoa McMeekin wed Donald Willits in Columbus. Norma Johnson crowned Miss Polk County at fairgrounds pageant. About 85 attended a personal shower at Arborville Town Hall for Miss Clara Mundt.
