Hospital duties in Denver and visiting relatives. Alvin Swanson returns from farming help in Chappell. Steele family back from Illinois and Iowa trip. Gil Hill and friends attend Burwell rodeo. New baby boy born to Snodgrass family in Stromsburg. Mildred Cole on vacation. Mrs Nelson caring for newborns. Wayne Hill escorts wife to York for Excelsior Springs treatment. Parochial school birthday surprise for Chas Wilhusen’s daughter. Mills, Shockey attend Burwell rodeo. Irvin Fossburg buys a Ford touring. Stettner a four door sedan. Walter Bush a Tudor Ford.

Sunday adds apply. travelers warned against using traveling agents. Mrs Martha Saunders and Miss Clara Brock visited Central City on Thursday.

The August Community Club meeting at Buckley Park featured a steak fry and fall festival planning. The Polk County Farmers Union picnic drew about 500 with sports and entertainment. A severe electrical storm caused fire and equipment damage at a substation and Rud een home. Mrs A V Eielson and Mrs Hedbloom returned from Denver after two weeks with relatives.

Carlson leads Sunday School at 10 Morning Worship at 11 and Union Park Service at 8 guest speaker in the pulpit Sunday morning no evening service due to Bible Camp prayer meeting Tuesday at 8 church missionary conference on September 1 with a foreign field missionary and visiting pastor to discuss the denomination's great missionary program.
M. E. Church notes announce guest preacher Rev. Peterson from South America during Sunday services at 11:15 A M. Bible Camp meetings are highlighted with conference beginning September 8 at Grand Island. Swede Plains M E Church lists 10:00 A M worship and 11:00 A M Sunday School with a Friday church social and talks on summer trips.
Mrs Arthur Van Housen and Mrs Margaret Anderson left Wednesday for Colorado. Lyle Cockle Henry Eisler and Fred Bedient returned Saturday for Carter Wyoming where they have employment. They will join Carl Bedient and Bob Hill who have worked there long term. Mrs Chas Sterner sick in Albuquerque NM is critically ill at her daughter Olga's Lincoln home. Mrs Chas Shenk with sister Mrs Fightmaster and niece Mrs Hottinger and baby visited North Platte. Wade Davis of Konrado Kansas visits Dorothy Pickerel at S A Charles home. Mr and Mrs T D Otte and daughter and Geo Bingham left Thursday for Lake Geneva Wisconsin to visit relatives. Marion Flick accepts a job in Oklahoma and will leave soon. Gertrude Flick and sister Mrs Chas Slocum traveled to Ames and Chicago to visit relatives. Mr and Mrs Henry Mundt leave for Crete for Mundt family reunion. The 4 H Club enjoyed a picnic and swim at Aurora Friday. Mr and Mrs Chas Bufinch Fullerton, Mr and Mrs J F McMurrin Prairie Island, Mr and Mrs A V Erickson and daughter and C F McMurrin Hordville visited Chas Burgess home Sunday. Mr and Mrs C Erickson and children Hordville visited Robert McMurrin and Chas Burgess homes Friday. Miss Geneva Beckman left for Denver to attend commercial school. Mr and Mrs Irvin Hahn spent Sunday with Mrs John Willis at Central City.
Stromsburg edged Shelby 4 to 3 after 15 innings with Junior Peterson delivering the winning run. Nearby, Mr and Mrs Elmer Peterson and family from Grand Island visited Saturday evening as local residents hosted relatives and friends.
