Pvt Dennis Carlstrom Joins 5th Missile Battalion Army Defense
Pvt Dennis Carlstrom son of Mr and Mrs Carl Carlstrom of Polk has been assigned to Battery C 5th Missile Battalion 56th Artillery in Dillsboro Indiana as a Military Policeman. He entered the Army in February 1967 and trained at Fort Gordon Georgia before his current posting. Battery C defends Southwestern Ohio Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky with Nike Hercules missiles.

4 H Junior Leaders Return From Chippewa County Exchange
The Polk County 4-H group of 25 junior leaders and sponsors arrived home Thursday at 3 45 p m after a week in Chippewa County Minnesota They stayed with host families and joined in work play and church activities They compared farming practices noting wheat yields of 15 to 20 bushels per acre and expressed appreciation for the exchange and future trips.
