Swede Plain WSCS Holds August Meeting
The Swede Plain WSCS met in the church basement August 9 at 8 p.m. with devotional leader Mrs Willard Adelson. President Mrs Lester Widga opened the business session as program leaders led readings and songs. Guests the Shermans and Henry Reed with Delton Wegner joined for weekend visits.

The Polk girls softball team captured the State Class B championship at Hooper, defeating the Lincoln Hawkers 7 to 5 after a tournament run that saw wins over Hooper, Oakland, Uehling, and finally Lincoln. Pitcher Carol Rasmussen earned honorary All-State honors as Polk went undefeated in double elimination.
