Sutherland Reservoir Likely to Reach Half Fill This Year
Lincoln officials say the Sutherland reservoir on the Platte Valley project will probably be filled to only about half this year as a 400 cubic feet per second cut in diversion tightens supply. The district cut river flow from 1200 to 800 cfs, with 55 000 acre feet currently stored and risk of stopping filling within days due to senior water rights demand. East of North Platte all ditches except Dawson canal are using water and the Platte may go dry at Overton early.
