Community Guests Visit in Arborville Notes

Walter Fisher and daughters visited York on Saturday and stayed at the Manley Fisher home Sunday evening. Dave Dornburg of Polk Bert Palmer and family of Bradshaw and other locals were guests at various homes Sunday afternoon. Mrs Harold Bedient convalescing after surgery returned home. The Community Club met at Mrs. F E Merchant's, a luncheon followed.

William H Hanquist born January 7 1881 in Hamilton County died April 18 1936 at Grand Island Hospital aged 55 years three months and 11 days after a brief illness. Survived by wife Ellen sons Harold and Lloyd two grandsons one father of Polk one brother and several sisters and many relatives. Funeral Monday April 20 1936 at Free Mission Church with Rev Paul B Carlson. interment at Swedish Baptist Cemetery.

Keahlier and Tracy Wed in Belleville Parsonage Ceremony

Miss Evangeline Keahlier daughter of Mr and Mrs M Keahlier and Everett Tracy son of Mrs Mary Tracy of Bradshaw married April 15 at the Methodist parsonage in Belleville Kansas Rev Roy Robertson officiated Mrs Tracy a Polk High School 1935 graduate plans to live on the groom's mother's Bradshaw farm for their future home.

Girl Reserves Club Organizes In Polk

The Girl Reserves, a Junior YWCA group, held its first Polk meeting April 3 with a council of local women and business sponsors. Officers chosen April 24 include Evaline Keahlier president and Rose Johnson vice president. The group meets next on May 11 for a picnic or hike inviting all high school girls to attend.

Community Visits and Gatherings Across Swede Home Area

Swede Home and nearby communities see a lineup of visits and socializing. Families from York Polk Stromsburg and Clarks share time at various homes including Gothard Nelson Lindgren Fredrickson and Coffin households. A T W Club meeting is planned for April 30 at Mrs Harlan Johnson’s home.

Local residents host weekend gatherings across Polk and surrounding areas

Mr and Mrs John Collison and families visited Shelby area homes Friday and Sunday. Rev. Johansen spoke at the Methodist Church in Hastings. Osceola visitors included Gloria Peterson and Enoch Peterson. Several local residents traveled to Omaha and Lincoln for events and hospital visits. A Medal Contest is planned at the Baptist Church Sunday evening at a union meeting.

Larson Hecht Wedding Unites Grand Island Pair

Miss Hazel Larson of Grand Island daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Larson married Forrest Hecht son of Mr and Mrs Hecht of York Monday April 18 at Hastings Methodist parsonage. The bride a Polk High graduate 1929 attended Grand Island Business College and worked as secretary to Grand Island city attorney Homburg. They plan to live in Grand Island briefly where Hecht works for Safeway Store.

Shelby News Highlights Local Visits and Family Gatherings

Charles J. Fyfe of Pine Bluffs Wyoming spent days in Polk County visiting relatives after selling cattle in Chicago. R J Miller and family returned to Shelby from California with daughter Miss Geraldine Miller and nurse Miss Scholz visiting Shelby and Chicago work plans. A family gathering at Chas E Hastert’s home included many relatives from North Bend David City Genoa and others. Terence Duren visited Shelby from Cleveland for a funeral, then returned Friday. Mrs Howard Miller left the hospital with twins. Dorothy Gondringer will assist with housework this summer.

Mrs Will Kroger Mrs Lloyd Kroger and Mrs Neil McNaught visited Mrs Homer Branting at St Francis hospital in Grand Island. Funeral guests for Will Hanquist included Albert Nyberg Lydia Jack from Arcadia and others. Local families hosted dinner at Lloyd Kroger home. Omaha Cold Storage opened a cream and poultry station near Farmers Oil Station managed by Bill Thompson. Visitors included D N Carlson Dean Nelson from Grand Island and Nathan Wilson from Stromsburg. Mrs Frank Adelson suffers a throat infection. Margaret Cramer staying with Dean Nelson during illness.

Osceola Honors 587 Students at Annual Convocation

John D LéMar of Osceola a medical student at Omaha is among 587 honored at the eighth annual honors convocation of the university. Dr. E A Gilmore president of the University of Iowa delivered the principal address. Also recognized were upper ten percent and seniors in the upper three percent with honor roll achievements.
