Elevators Transform Farm Work Across Electrified Fields

On modern farms elevators handle heavy lifting and transport tasks easing labor shortages from World War I era. Portable units 0.5 to 1 horsepower raise hay and grain, with Idaho State College tests showing one man empties and crates grain in six to eight minutes. DN-289 fungicide insecticide by Dow Chemical fights eye spotted bud moth and many aphids. effective at 1 to 2 quarts per 100 gallons water.

Clover Produces More Seed When Pollinated by Bees

An experiment by Dr. H. A. Scullen shows Ladino clover yields much more seed with bee pollination. Bee visited heads produced 13,946 seeds from 100 heads versus only 365 seeds from 100 head with bees excluded, about 40 times as many seeds.
