Winter wheat drop seen in Nebraska April survey

A. E B. Anderson reports Nebraska winter wheat condition at 60 percent of normal with an estimated production of 35,660,000 bushels and an 18 percent acreage abandonment. Moisture shortfalls in several counties threaten higher abandonment by May 1. rye and pastures at about 70 percent of normal. wage and rent increases noted for farm labor and pasture rents hold at 90 cents.

Nebraska counties receive relief allotment under NERA funds

Lincoln The state relief committee allocated 59394 to 25 Nebraska counties least able to handle April relief caseloads. Chairman Frank D Throop emphasized counties must maintain budget standards and exhaust state funds before federal aid. Grants cover two-fifths of remaining need after state funds, based on 25 per employable case and 15 per non employable case.

Lincoln Iowa A total crop loan aid package for Nebraska farmers

Rexford Tugwell of the Resettlement Administration notified Gov Cochran by telegram that 1 550 000 dollars in crop production loans have been made available in Nebraska. An additional 800 000 dollars was advanced this week by the Rural Rehabilitation Division bringing the total RA assistance to Nebraska farmers to 2 594 000 dollars. The reply followed appeals from Nebraska officials in Washington.

Statewide road map issued with city populations and features

The state highway department distributed 20 000 copies of the first official map in two years. It includes a city population index, a city locator key, a mileage chart for 60 cities, ports of entry for imported gasoline, a digest of traffic laws, lists of state parks, and pictures of some parks.
