Receipts at Omaha Monday reach 6,500 cattle and 2,700 hogs with buyers active and prices about 10 to 25 cents higher than last week. Best steers to 9.75, best heifers to 8.75, feeder steers up to 8.75, and light mixed hogs at 8.00 to 8.15 with heavies 7.00 to 8.00. Sheep and lambs trade mostly lower to steady with shorn lambs 7.50 to 7.75 and feeders steady.

Earliest Ohio Railroad Began as Mere Fanciful Object
The Erie and Kalamazoo, first steam railroad in Ohio, was planned by Dr. Samuel O. Comstock of Toledo and chartered by Michigan as a harmless project. Opened 1836 Toledo to Adrian, Adrian No 1 began June 1837, iron straps on wooden rails, mails contract the same year. Other Ohio charters followed. Mad River and Lake Erie ran Sandusky to Bellevue in 1839, reaching Dayton by 1844.
