M B Jenkins of the University of Nebraska conservation division called for a broad soil conservation program including 50 million trees planted annually for five decades and mandatory forestry and agriculture study in schools. He warned Nebraskas future hinges on extensive tree barriers to erosion. Sugar beet growers may receive 6.00 to 6.25 a ton for 1936 crop from Great Western Sugar. Warrick said growers earned 4.83 a ton last year and 51 000 of 66 800 acres assigned to the company in western Nebraska have been planted.
