Local families share Sunday and Monday visits across towns

A flurry of visitors and callers filled Sunday in Livermore and nearby homes. Alvin and Minnie Smith with family hosted Mrs Cassie Johnson and Milton from Liromsburg. numerous Cramer, Ziegelbein, Lindholm, Recknor, and Glasser households hosted relatives and friends across Lincoln, Grand Island, Hastings, and Bradshaw.

Village Election Yields Quiet Vote Totals

Thirty Polk women voted in the village election held Tuesday. For Village Trustees A E Lundberg led with 130 votes followed by Lester Stark 94 and Carl McNeely 36. For Board of Education Mrs M F Smith 101 and T A Lindburg 77, with G L Spencer 35 and H G Dahlgren 28.

Birth and deaths mark local April 1924 notices

Twenty five years ago on April 3 1924 the community noted the birth of a baby girl to Mr and Mrs Bert Cummings born March 31 Donald Lindburg underwent an appendectomy in Aurora Neil Rakestraw Lincoln Telephone manager died after a fall from the city light plant roof contacting a 33000 volt live wire and crashing to a concrete platform J C McClure filed to run as Republican candidate for county representative to the state legislature.

Progress celebrates 21st birthday week with local gains

Twenty years ago on April 4 1929 The Progress marks its 21st anniversary. A produce station break in locked back door led to three cases of eggs valued at 19 dollars stolen. School board members W A Stevens and W A Lindburg win three year terms. J L Stouffer joins Village Board. A gasoline barrel exploded on S F Muffley farm causing fire that destroyed 1700 bushels of corn.

Reckner 25th Wedding Anniversary Noted

Ten years ago on April 6 1939 Mr and Mrs Clarence Reckner observed their 25th wedding anniversary with a March 31 celebration. The Polk Womens Club met at Mrs Peters home with Mrs Sundberg co host.
