Zella Brizendine 18 was instant ly killed while Glen Daniels 19 was critically injured in a motorcycle crash on highway 75 near the Iowa Nebraska Light Power substation. Cappen and Capper assisted, a second car contributed to the collision, no inquest. Brizendine survived by mother Mrs Co D Shopp and six brothers and one sister Myrtle.

Hubert Babbitt nine-year-old son of Mr and Mrs ID M Babbitt was saved from drowning Saturday at Merritt Beach by Bill Breenas aged 14 from South Omaha. Don ald Martin aged 12 attempted a rescue but could not reach him. Hubert did not swim and had been in shallow water before stepping into the deep area with his father present.

Fire Damages Golding Building Sunday Morning
A fire of undetermined origin was discovered around 9 am in the Golding building, threatening the Golding & Stibal store on the first floor but brought under control. The blaze started in a toilet and spread to the upper floor, causing heavy plaster damage, and badly damaging Mr. Golding’s living quarters. The store stock loss is reduced by quick action and coverage with oil cloth. final loss to be assessed by adjusters.

Drowning Victim Rolland Landis in Louisville Lake Incident
Rolland Landis formerly of this city died in a drowning accident at Stone Lake northwest of Louisville last night. He fell from a log while in deep water around 9 p m. Lifesaving efforts by Art Kutson and George Bramer failed. Landis, born June 16 1919 in Cedar Creek, leaves parents Claude and Edith Green Landis and several siblings. Funeral services are set for 2 p m Wednesday at Stander and Stander, with burial at Riverview Cemetery.

Sunday evening Charles Johnson of Denver arrived to spend the day and tour his early years in Burlington. As a youth he worked in Burlington shops until 1888 when his father George Johnson, a Burlington engineer, joined the engineers and firemen strike.
