Mrs Louis Ottnat Dies at Nebraska City

Mrs Lillian Ottnat 67 died Wednesday afternoon at 4 30 at her home in Nebraska City after an illness lasting a year though critical only in the last three weeks. She was born October 22 1870 at Rock Bluffs and lived in Murray before marrying Louis Ottnat June 25 1902. Surviving are her husband four daughters Julius Ottnat chief of police of Nebraska City one son and three brothers. Funeral Friday at Fassbender Nebraska City with burial at Wyuka.

Trucks Resume Activity After Omaha Lincoln Strike

The truckers strike ended in midweek when operations resumed between the city and Omaha. Local firms had halted loading and faced delays as shipments waited in Omaha warehouses. With the settlement, freight and express movement returns to normal and delayed consignments are being pushed out to merchants.

Tarkio College Quartet Plays In Omaha Visit

Foster Patterson of Tarkio College visited the city on Wednesday before traveling with his family to Colorado. They will spend the summer in Boulder where Patterson will attend the University of Colorado summer sessions and enjoy the pleasant western climate.

Harris-Shearer Wedding Held Last Evening

Miss Louise Harris daughter of Mr and Mrs R S Harris Omaha and granddaughter of F G Fricke married William Shearer son of Dr and Mrs W L Shearer at Trinity Cathedral in a Wednesday ceremony. Dean Stephen McGinley officiated and Dr Stanley played the organ. The bride wore white organza and lace net with pink attendants and carnations. Droege Family Visits Omaha After Eighteen Years

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Droege and children Elda and Pegsey of Green River Wyoming visited Omaha. They spent Thursday with old friends, noting changes since his boyhood days. Mr. Droege, longtime Union Pacific employee and former Red Sox player, will return to Green River for the summer with Mrs. Lena Droege.

First District Women's Clubs Summer Meet at Peru

Mrs W R Pate directs the second annual Summer Institute of the First District Nebraska Federation of Women's Clubs to be held July 1 and 2 at Peru. Death of Father Hoffman a Lincoln diocese pastor

The Rev. J. J. Hoffman priest of Auburn Catholic church died Thursday night at St. Joseph hospital in Omaha after two weeks illness. He previously led Falls City parish for 27 years, then served at Manley and Auburn. Funeral plans list Auburn lie in state, Falls City interment on Monday at 10 a.m., with Monsignor Mosler arranging details.

Florida visitors in town plan Montana vacation

Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Neil and daughter of Delray Beach Florida are in the city staying with Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Lancaster. They will travel on to Montana for the rest of their vacation. Mrs. Neil is remembered as Miss Julia Madsen daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Madson.

Return From West Coast Trip With Family News

Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Larson with children Lars and Ray return from a several week western trip visiting desert country in the southwest Yosemite National Park and San Francisco where they crossed the Golden Gate Bridge. They met friends in Alhambra and heard about local folks in new homes. A boat incident near Los Angeles prompted a rescue tow. They journeyed home via Yellowstone before ending their expedition.

Miss Eleanor O'Brien Promoted to Nebraska City Supervisor

Miss Eleanor O'Brien has been promoted to supervisor in the Nebraska City telephone office starting Monday. Previously assistant to the chief operator in Plattsmouth she has served there since June 11, 1928. West Coast Death of Plattsmouth Resident Wes Stoneking

Wes Stoneking formerly of Plattsmouth and Rock Bluffs died May 25 in Almaden California. He lived with his sister Mrs Frank Stoop and was found dead in his room. Survived by sisters Mrs Stoop Mrs Sherd Graves and Mrs Tillman. Stoop in Savannah Missouri for treatment en route home. Graves family in Rock Bluffs Nebraska. Tillman plans Nebraska reunion visit.

Missouri River floods threaten lowlands near Bismarck

The Missouri river at Bismarck North Dakota stands at a twelve foot stage per the U S weather bureau, unusually high for the season. Rising water could cause flooding of the western tributaries and overflow of dikes and lowlands east of the city.

Garden Club Meets With Landscape Expert Guidance

Plattsmouth Garden club heard Henry Herminghaus of Omaha discuss lawn care at the Hotel Plattsmouth. He endorsed Kentucky blue grass and year old seed, urged fertilizing and watering to crowd out dandelions, and cautioned against mowing too closely. A. L. Tidd reported on the flower show with 270 specimens, and members shared attendance at shows in Shenandoah and Lincoln along with a National Peony show in Lincoln.

County Tour Highlights Soil Conservation Efforts in Cass County

Over 100 farmers joined an all day soil conservation tour directed by D. D. Gross and D. D. Wainscott.
