Soul and Body in Christian Science Lesson Sermon

Sunday services across Christian Science churches focused on Soul and Body as the Lesson Sermon topic. The Golden Text cited Isaiah 58 10 urging generosity to the hungry and afflicted, with Isaiah 61 10 praising salvation and righteousness and a bridal imagery. The Science and Health quote defines Soul as the substance Life and intelligence, indivualized but not in matter, and unreflective of lower matter.

Use Of Proper Signals Reduces Accident Numbers

A safety bulletin from the Illinois Division of Highways urges drivers to telegraph turns by selecting the correct lane and using hand signals at least 100 feet before a turn. Left turns require the far left lane, right turns from the far right, and signals should warn others while avoiding distraction. Horns and headlights may warn of overtaking or at blind intersections.

Wheat Crop Announcements Ease Quotas for 1940

Marion county wheat growers will face no marketing quotas for the 1940 crop and may receive larger acreage allotments, following Secretary Wallace announcements. The July 1 1989 supply estimate of 974 million bushels falls below the 1.021 billion bushels quota, avoiding mandatory quotas unless supplies rise above that level.

Wheat supply figures and acreage outlook for 1940

The report notes carryover of 270 million bushels and this year's crop at 704 million bushels. This year's 974 million compares to 1,085 million at the previous year's crop year start.
