New Area Opened In Tonti Township In McClosky Pay

In Tonti township McClosky area Arthur Tex Harvey completed a No. 1 Building and Loan well in Section 38 near the Salem oil field. Initial test yielded 157 barrels of oil with water, while No. 2 test is progressing with stronger indications. Texas Company holds large acreage nearby and watches No. 2 Building and Loan with interest.

The Lake Centralia Salem oil field has surged to record production with new heavy producers and aggressive drilling amid winter to spring, led by Magnolia Oil Co and Texas Co. No. 11 N. Young and No. 38 J H. Young posted strong outputs, while Centralia considers diagonal drilling to boost yields. Local church funds and a growing rural community gain from oil wealth as the field ranks among top U.S. producers.

Adams Oil Co abandons Duster at Sesser Illinois test

Adams Oil Co drilled No. 1 Old Ben Coal avionic at Sesser Illinois to 1800 feet but failed to discover oil and abandoned the well. They plan to move a rig to Mississippi to drill another wildcat and also pursue tests in Louisiana after Mississippi completion. Hot Bros Drilling Co had contract work on the Lesser test and Mississippi well. Taylor Co employees from here, including Lee Murrey and others, left for Mississippi.

No Oil Proration Decision by Illinois Investigating Committee

The legislative committee reports that restricted production in Illinois oil fields is unnecessary and undesirable. Refineries will not come to Illinois to process crude by products without assurance they can buy enough oil to run at capacity. No state tax on oil is recommended. Local authorities should tax only producing acreage.

In the Sandoval Field Niagaran, No 21 Benoist well near the discovery site has not produced. Tests on Lanzgenfield land yielded saturated core but salt water. An Illinois Central test was abandoned. A third test nearMcClosky depth was also abandoned. Benoist drills another test across the road with Menhall involvement. Ohio Co rotary moved in then left after a cluster outcome. Benoist plans his own test well.

Magnolia Oil Co Builds Gathering Station North Of Patoka

Magnolia Oil Co purchased 40 acres from the Rogier estate two miles north of Patoka and began a gathering and pumping station. A 10 1 2 inch pipeline from East St Louis to Lima Ohio with 40 000 barrels per day capacity is being laid. The north station will serve Lake Centralia Salem and Beecher City pools with tanks and two pumps. J M Milligan oversaw the project for Magnolia expecting completion in about three months. Materials and pipe are arriving, lines are being graded, and right of way is being acquired for feeders to the west and east.

Jarecki Mfg Co Closes Patoka Store Moves Stock

The Jarecki Manufacturing Company closes its Patoka oil field supply branch after about two years of operation. Stock will be moved to the St. Elmo store. Eugene Gougie of Owensboro Kentucky has managed Patoka for the past year and faces an uncertain reassignment.
