The Lost Community of Greenboro in Oswego History
Richland Town Historian traces Greenboro’s rise and decline in Redfield. Jabez Green helped found land claims. the Military Road linked Fort Stanwix to Sacketts Harbor. The area hosted taverns, mills, and later heavy logging driven by DeWitt Littlejohn. Greenboro faded by 1850, leaving a small hamlet and landmarks. Carolyn Verdon, once the center’s resident weather watcher, remains its best known figure.
