Monday tri outs selected the Senior Class play cast for a three act comedy to be presented April 27. OHS Mike assignments posted. next issue expected in about two weeks. Thursday Ads sale trip to Columbus by Ann Jill Karleen Eddie Steve and Miss Rasmussen yielded fair results for the 1956 Bulldog.
Osceola High School notes include County Government Day planned for February 16 with junior recognition, ongoing Boy Scout Week flag duties, and free adult classes in Homemaking and Agriculture funded by the school and State Vocational Education. A Streamlined Sewing course drew strong interest, with plans for future courses in tailoring, upholstery, nursing, and cookery.
At the final gatherings last week each group awarded gifts to Miss Ode. Five perfect attendance certificates were given Thursday evening to Mrs. Amelia Anderson, Mrs. Edward Bonne, Mrs. Charles Cejka, Mrs. Merle Runquist and Miss Lilian Brown. Class members listed for Monday and Thursday nights include noted local names such as G. Clarence Carlson, Floyd Speirs, Delmar Johnson, Cedric Fineey, Gust Carlson and Myra Rasmussen among others.
District 18 residents and relatives logged a busy weekend with multiple visits across Shelby near Bellwood Genoa and Columbus. People included the Reisdorfs Lisko Bernts Brighams and many others visiting in homes and at District 4 school activities.
Families from the area attended a parish card party at Shelby parish hall Sunday to honor Msgr. Kean on his birthday. A large crowd enjoyed refreshments after the event.
February family night church supper had good turnout with a covered dish meal and home movies. Upcoming meetings feature Paul Bond, Max Lotts, and Ronald Eklund. gifts to March of Dimes and Tom Takima Travel fund. Local births, visits, dinners, and church activities across Wayland, Stromsburg, and surrounding families are listed with names and places.
Mr and Mrs Lloyd Hartman and their sons were entertained at dinner and lunch in the Lyle Cockle home on Sunday, sharing a family gathering in a private residence.
Osceola residents hosted and visited relatives and friends over the weekend. Darrell Atkinson and family from Silver Creek joined Karl Miley’s household, while George Bowman of Carleton and Rex Wilkin with family from Bruning dined with Carl Bowman and family. Further visits included Anna Carlson and Mollie Swanson in Stromsburg, J. H. Watts of Ansley with S. W. Calhoun, Wm. Barry and family with Herman Thelen in Shelby, Rolland Johnson with Kenneth Schmidt in Lincoln, Oscar Jones visiting Reuben and Ada Lundstrom, Jeanell Bowman from Lincoln staying with Carl Bowman’s family, Hickman and Cadwell party in Lincoln.
