Social Center News lists numerous gatherings as residents attend Christmas suppers, gift exchanges, and dinners across Grand Island Shelby Fullerton Des Moines Omaha Osceola Rising City Columbus and surrounding towns. Multiple families and clubs including the Pinochle Club Naomi Circle Sheep Head and Pitch Card Club are noted with local hosts and venues.
Eleven Blue River Extension Club members and their husbands enjoyed a 6:30 dinner and cards Sunday evening at the A and B Lounge in Shelby. Prizes went to Ronald Smith, Mrs. Doris Shonka, Ernie Shonka Jr, Mrs. Donna Hopwood and Mrs. Zelma Rathje. Secret Sisters exchanged gifts and the next meeting is January 7 at Mrs. Marietta Peters home.

The Osceola Recon notes plans for shelterbelts to improve farming efficiency with soil conservation help and Clarke-McNary trees available via Soil Conservation or Extension offices. It also introduces The Magic World of Clothes a new 4-H clothing project guiding pattern selection fabrics stitching and finishing with required student projects. January events include Swine Housing Conference in Lincoln and Beef Cattle Feeders Day in Wisner.
Harold Thayer and Kathy Jo spent Thanksgiving with their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Walter Radcliffe in Lincoln The Radcliffes visited over the weekend with the Thayers.
