Osceola City Council decides to elect officials at large rather than redraw ward boundaries for elections. Centennial book nearing printing with February 1 release. gift certificates offered. Wrestling coverage by Terry Anderson explains officiating terms and scoring basics for OHS matches.
Mrs. Virgil Lienemann of Osceola won one hundred dollars in Saturday’s drawing. Denise Lienemann claimed the girl’s toy. Other ten dollar winners include Mrs. Truman Bachenberg and Mrs. Ronald Beebe among others. Boy’s game awarded to David Burritt. additional gifts for three boys and three girls. Next drawing at 3 30 on courthouse south steps. tickets must be present to win. Children may attend free film at Muse Theatre starting 1 30.

Osceola residents who enter or plan to enter the Christmas Lighting Contest are asked to have displays lit on Saturday December 18 and Sunday December 19. Judging will occur those evenings. Four cash prizes will be awarded: 17.50 first, 10 second, 7.50 third, and 5 fourth. Sponsored by the Osceola Chamber of Commerce and Nebraska Public Power District.
Among 317 senior and graduate students at Kearney State Mid Term Graduation Sunday December 19 Kathy McVeigh of Osceola Marie Cockson Sandra Kosch Shelby and Stephen Saylor of Polk are candidates for degrees Saylor earns a bachelor of science degree while the other three receive bachelor of arts in education.
Osceola Bulldogs rally to a 59 57 win over Stromsburg after a back and forth fourth period. Randy Neujahr scores 21 and Monty Jones 12 rebounds lead OHS with tight defense sealing the late rally.
Osceola wrestlers swept a double dual at the OHS Auditorium. Results show Osceola 36 Clarks 30 and Osceola 57 Palmer 6 with 19 pins, 8 decisions, and 8 forfeits. Notable pins by Hahn Treffer Senn Runquist while several weights forfeited.
Richard C. Sealey announced the 1972 ASC community committeemen elected in eight Polk County communities. Names include Canada Leroy Berggren George Gondringer Willard Hiemer Elmer Stewart Dean White and others across Clear Creek Island Hackberry Osceola Platte Pleasant Home Stromsburg Valley. The county convention at ASCS office December 14 will select the committee chairman and vice chairman.
Walter Koehler is getting along just fine at Annie Jeffrey Hospital after he was struck by a tractor with a backhoe attachment. He moved into the road while walking home at dusk last Tuesday, as a vehicle blinded the oncoming tractor driver Vern Johnson. Koehler suffered injuries to his leg.
Osceola Lions voted to sponsor several issues of the Mike OHS newspaper and to pay half the expenses for four eye glasses for children. They also will coordinate workers for the March of Dimes drive and heard a travelogue by Steve Georgeou with Mert Flodman.
Scouts earned badges Corey Becker swore in and received Bobcat pin. Tracy Walgren earned Wolf badge and gold. Drake Miller won Silver and Gold Arrows and Wolf badge. Webelos leaders awarded activity badges to Steve Davis Paul Hennings Joe Graham Bob Grossnicklaus Mike Veelik John Miller.
