Early Nebraska finds push back oldest man footprint
University of Nebraska scholars led by Dr. W. D. Strong report evidence suggesting human habitation in Nebraska from 25 000 to 50 000 years ago. The expedition uncovered a chipped lance point with an extinct bison in Custer County and sites along the Missouri and Republican rivers show earth lodges pottery and tools from ancient farming peoples. Additional bison sites and Pawnee town remains near Red Cloud are being examined to clarify early migration and Pike travel history.
