Flax Pays Off For Nebraska Farmer In 1930
Box Butte county farmer Ralph Tyne paid off a half section near Alliance on a time payment plan using flax as the crop. He settled the contract in full this year and had $700 left from the year's receipts after clearing the loan. The flax crop yielded enough despite low market prices to cover land costs and leave extra funds. Flax was a minor crop in Nebraska in 1929 with 17,000 acres and 129,011 bushels statewide, Sheridan county leading with 97,286 acres.

Robert W Hans died after a pneumonia illness. Funeral services were held in Lincoln on Sunday. He was 45, survived by his wife and son Lyle. He had lived in Osceola and Fairbury and worked at Farmers Union Store and later as a grocery salesman for H P W Company in Lincoln.
