About 430 Milan residents signed petitions urging the U S Postal Service to authorize home delivery. Jaycees chairman John Payne said the drive has gone well and Postmaster Robert Haeuptle will forward the petitions for a formal postal survey.
Police recovered a bicycle stolen Tuesday belonging to William Spears Jr of 24 State St. The bike was found near his home at 3:09 a.m. Wednesday. A 20 inch purple Western Flyer girl’s bike was recovered at League Street School playground Wednesday night and is being held at the police garage for owner pickup.
New London Reservoir will start Memorial Day Weekend and run through Labor Day with swimming boating and camping. Fees set include 35 cents for 4-12 year olds and 50 cents for adults for daily beach use, free for under 3, 20 dollar family passes for residents 25 for non residents, season boating permit seven dollars, camping two dollars per night, and a 150 dollar 120 day camping pass new this year. A snack stand run by Robert Luxon will share 20 percent of net receipts and supply tables chairs and setup. Lifeguards will supervise noon to eight daily and lessons may be offered with charges to be decided.
A 17 year old driver Patrick Spettel of South Norwalk Road was cited for improper start after his truck was struck by a motorcycle driven by 28 year old Lawrence Warren of Willard. No injuries were reported.
New London Junior and Senior High School hosts a Saturday prom with a 6 30 p m buffet and dance at the Elks Country Club Norwalk. Curt Chandler is emcee, Grand March at 9 00 p m, music by Raymond Fries Melody Music Makers, and post-prom from 1 to 4 a m at Recreation Park Hileman Building. Parents may view the Grand March. all juniors seniors and guests invited per advisor Dave Rice.
