Aspirin a Day Might Prevent Heart Attacks and Strokes
Michael Reese Hospital researcher Dr Ruth Pick reports in the Journal of Clinical Investigation that daily aspirin may prevent heart attacks and strokes by keeping arteries open. In a six month monkey study on 11 cynomolgus monkeys, five given orange flavored aspirin daily showed less arterial narrowing than untreated peers. She notes aspirin makes platelets slippery, reducing thrombus risk, but cautions dosing and potential stomach side effects.

New 648 executive director chosen for Huron County Board
Frederick Richards, a 37 year old Yale graduate with public health training, was chosen Tuesday night as executive director of the Huron County Mental Health 648 Board. He will start around June 15 at a $26,000 annual salary and has a track record with Cleveland area health groups. The board, without a full time director since January, moves to approve fiscal 1979 1980 contracts and reviews Linn Corp expansion plans to add 24 hour emergency services, geriatric and family focused programs, and a substance abuse coordinator across the county. Richards pledges openness with the press while linking services to communities and press needs.
